About me

Hi, I am Dr. Manasi

MBBS, DDVL

Board certified dermatologist

Let me tell you a backstory to the title though. My tryst with skincare started awkwardly as a teenager, with a full face of acne. And growing up in a traditional Indian home, naturally I first reached out to everything else before consulting a dermatologist. Let us just say, we learn from our mistakes. That is why I count upon my own experiences as my biggest driving force in helping others navigate through their skincare journey.

FAQ's

Frequenty Asked Questions

So you've booked an online consultation. What's Next?
  • First and foremost, congratulations on taking the first step towards healthy skin!
  • All the details of your skin concerns (including photos) and medicalhistory will be asked for during the appointed consultation time.
  • If you have any specific concerns (eg medications you are allergicto or do not want to take), please let me know during theconsultation.
  • If you have more than one concern (eg acne + pigmentation oracne + hairfall), make sure you have paid the additional consultcharge.
  • Please follow up regularly as advised by me
What should you expect from your first consultation?
  • The first consultation is the most extensive and in-depth session.
  • You’ll be asked a few basic questions about your medical history and previous skin-care experiences, as well as photographs of the troubled areas.
  • Your routine will be customized based on your concerns in order to provide you with the greatest results as quickly as feasible.
  • When and if necessary, prescriptions will be shared.
How long can I expect results in?
  • There is no set period of time. It differs for everyone. But it would take about 3-4 months for active acne to stop
  • The PIH can take up to 6 months, and scarring up to 1 year
I'm pregnant/planing a pregnancy/breastfeeding - what about me?
  • You can still get treated!
  • However, do let me know beforehand so that I can modify your prescription to be breastfeeding/pregnancy-safe
What about the pigmentation and scarring?
  • Treating acne is a step-wise process.
  • The first step is to always treat active acne.
  • Why? Because if you are still getting new acne – you’ll end up with new PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) and new scars.
  • However, do not worry – we will target the PIH and scarring AFTER having treated active acne.
Can I stop the creams after treatment?
  • At the end of your treatment, I will provide you with a routine you can use life-long.
  • People who are acne-prone will continue to get acne if they stop using a skincare routine
Can I still use DIYs?
  • I would personally not recommend nor encourage DIYs especially when you are already on medicated creams
  • However, if you are extremely convinced about a DIY and have used it without side-effects, you can use it once in 1 or 2 weeks WITH CAUTION
Do I need to apply sunscreen indoors?
  • You need to apply sunscreen at least once in the morning at the end of your AM routine.
  • It is okay if you are unable to re-apply every 3-4 hours
  • Why? Many times you may be given actives such as vit C which would oxidise if used without sunscreen. If you’re on retinoids (tretinoin, adapalene, retinol, etc) your skin may become more sensitive to UV rays
My skin is burning/flaking after applying the creams
  • It sounds like you may be over-applying the acne creams.
  • Acne creams tend to dry out the skin. Overapplication can definitely lead to dryness which will lead to an impaired skin barrier.
  • Applying any creams onto this impaired barrier can lead to stinging/burning.
  • What you can do about it:
    – Stop acne creams for 5 days.
    – Only apply facewash, moisturiser, and sunscreen.
    – When you re-start the creams, reduce the quantity of acne creams to half
    – Apply moisturiser before the acne creams.
